Hatsune Miku & Ranka Lee Eromakura
This pair of Hatsune Miku dakimakura covers, with a suggestive one above, and a more revealing one below, are by esteemed artist Sayori, whose work we have had the pleasure of seeing previously. As if that were not enough, we also see an interesting Ranka Lee cover too.
The ero-version appears to be a limited edition.
Sales are by Shanghai doujin event ComiCon 3 (280 Yuan), and by way of Yahoo Auctions for ¥8,500.

Otomedius Gorgeous Ero
It looks as though Xbox 360 side-scrolling shooter オトメディウスG / Otomedius G (Otomedius Gorgeous), the latest in the Parodius series, might better have been called Otomedius H, for we hear of delighted fans discovering it has a rather erotic and extensive internal gallery, with 115 images visible without unlocking, and with all manner of zooming and panning possible:
The game has just been released, so you may wish to give a look (though probably also on the merits of its gameplay, which seems not be lacking either).
Nobody could fail to recognise the character design as being in the style of Keroro Gunsou, which as anyone who has read the manga knows, secretly harbours tentacles and falling bikinis galore…

The Tragedy of Hiromu Minato
The story of 湊ヒロム / Hiromu Minato is a tragic and interesting one. The image you see above, as well as those shown later, are all her works, but you may be surprised to learn that the crude illustration below is not one of her earlier works, but rather one of her last, a shocking deterioration from her once accomplished character design talents.
She was apparently once a (relatively) popular illustrator for light novels and similar (eroge too, it seems), producing a wide portfolio of fine works, but all this changed when she fatefully began working in a game company; there, one of her coworkers began to sexually harass her, and then started stalking her.
This sorry state of affairs ended in her being the victim of an attempted rape; after this she confessed “I was no longer able to draw”.
The pitiable illustrations shown above were amongst her last published works; soon after she ceased publishing and began working in a field unconnected with illustration.
Her last blog entries, in April of 2007, speak of a terrifying encounter with, and messages from, “that person”, in which it seems she felt she only narrowly escaped an attack of some sort.
She passed away suddenly soon after in the spring of 2007; whether it was by her own hand or due to an illness is something the official announcements are all too tasteful to comment on. Whatever the case, it would seem the indirect cause would be her stalker.
It should be said that this is a one-sided account, largely coming from the person herself and those keen to respect her memory, so there is an undeniable possibility things were more nuanced than this story suggests, but it does seem eminently plausible all the same.
Her homepage is preserved as she left it, so pay your respects if you are of a mind. You can see more of her works on the Channel.
Simply searching for “湊ヒロム” will yield a variety of sources, all either speculative or tightlipped, so unfortunately no definitive details on her tragic career are likely to emerge.

Mizugi Taiga Lolicon Version
You may recall that in the recent (first) Toradora mizugi special, Ami suggested to Taiga a children’s swimsuit she thought more becoming of Taiga’s form.
A 2channer has reworked Taiga’s eventual choice of swimwear into just that swimming costume, doubtless more to the taste of 2ch’s otaku contingent.

Eroge Failure – Sengoku Hime
A just released eroge, 戦極姫 / Sengoku Hime, is attracting much attention, almost all of it scathing, for the incredibly dire quality of its art and production values, far lower even than most doujin games.
Many are wondering just what the developers are thinking marketing this at nearly ¥10,000 alongside premium titles.
You may like to take a closer look at the risible artwork, visible below:
It seems as though several different styles of art, all inept, have been sloppily piled together…
It looks as if it has some simplistic strategy parts aping the likes of Sengoku Ransu or even Nobunaga no Yabou. Gameplay and features throughout are said to be as bad as the art suggests.
Their official samples try to avoid the worst of it, but even there they fail:
Unusable? Though probably someone is going to say they think it’s great…
You can see what appears to be the main artist’s homepage, and of course that of the game itself.
In case you were wondering, the name is a pun on goku meaning both “extreme” and “country” based on different characters with identical readings – you will of course recall the Sengoku Jidai, Japan’s major civil war period. A pun on the same level as the game, we might think.

Teacher Mutilates Self to Teach “Meaning of Death”
An elementary school teacher (31) who sought to make his elementary school students “understand death” by graphically illustrating “death” to them by cutting himself repeatedly with a blade, and ensuring they saw the whole bloody act, traumatising them severely in the process, has been subject to a temporary pay cut.
According to the Board of Education responsible, in April the teacher confronted four of his homeroom students just before class, and then in two places carved open his left arm with a box cutter, showing the students both the act of cutting, and the blood which liberally welled up from the wounds.
One of the children subsequently has problems sleeping after witnessing this, such was the terror experienced.
He explained his actions by saying that he wanted to make the children “understand the meaning of death”.
After his instructive lectures he apparently lapsed into depression, and took a long absence from school.
He has been given a 10% pay cut for three months by way of a disciplinary measure.
In other news, the same Board of Education responsible for his punishment suspended a teacher (48) from her post for four months for updating her blog during working hours.
She was apparently writing about colleagues and student’s personal circumstances, though identifying them only by their initials, and explained her blogging by saying it was in response to stress.
She opted to retire after the verdict was rendered.

Nekomimi Idol Gallery
A gallery of 3D idols cosplaying with nekomimi; such cat eared performances seem surprisingly unpopular compared to the 2D kind, so perhaps we can conclude that the moe qualities of cat ears do not surivive the transition from 2D to 3D, save of course in the case of actual neko?
We so not seem to see anything of the alternative tail attachment method… Unfortunate.
Multi-talent cosplay idol Shokotan may also be of interest, as she seems prone to nekomimi cosplay.
With the innumerable nekomimi galleries on the site, and the even more extensive nekomimi tag on the Channel, you should be able to come to a decision as to whether 2D or 3D nekomimi are superior…

Touhou Nagae Iku Eromakura
Newer Touhou character 永江衣玖 / Nagae Iku is set to receive this interesting, or rather erotic, C75 dakimakura rendition. You could be forgiven for having trouble with the non-major Touhou characters given their huge numbers, but it’s always interesting see how even minors accumulate a following with Touhou.

Nagi no Gotoku: Nagi Cameo in Hayate no Gotoku
Nagi-sama, of crazy miko anime Kannagi, accompanied by Jin, has made a brief and unexpected cameo appearance in chapter 201 of Hayate No Gotoku, illustrated in an appropriately traditional style.
This comes soon after an unusually extensive (and voiced) appearance of the Hayate no Gotoku cast in parody fest anime Zettai Karen Children. Haruhi even turned up in Kannagi itself. Whatever next?

Ichigo Marshmallow Encore OVA Release Details
We have been furnished with a release date for the first volume of the upcoming new Ichigo Marshmallow 2nd OVA we heard of previously, “Ichigo Marshmallow encore”; it will go on sale on the 23rd of January, 2009.
It’s not clear how many volumes are planned in total, although more than two or three seems unlikely.
Also of note is the impending release of a DVD box set edition of the original TV series, due on the 21st for some ¥12,000. It includes a variety of extras, such as a hopefully saucy illustration disc.
Web and mobile distribution are also planned, both for the new OVA and all the previous titles.

Kantoku
An artist we have, largely unknowingly, seen much of in various fine images lately is カントク / Kantoku, with the circle 5年目の放課後 / Afterschool of the Fifth Year; his art is absolutely first rate, so an introduction is in order.
Below you see representative sample of his works; since they total some 500, all of a similar level of quality, you can see all of them on the Channel, where you can also obtain extremely high resolution versions of some (the pantsu bereft girl above has a particularly huge version).
He does have some ero output…
Kantoku is another artist who is sparing with personal details, so we will have to know him just as a master illustrator and doujinshi creator (unless you prefer pianist and hiker); he is yet young, so doubtless he has a promising career ahead of him.

Haruhi Ero-Bikini Strip Figure
This rather convincing portrayal of a tank top stripping and bikini exhibiting Haruhi Suzumiya looks set to join the seemingly unending multitudes of quality Haruhi figures we see from month to month. You can see it in more detail below:
The figure has been released recently, and retails for some ¥6,000 or so.
I’m not sure about there being a single source illustration for thei figure; it seems there are plenty of images of her wearing that bikini, though in different poses…

Taiga-tan: Chibi Toradora DVD
The DVD release of paragon tsundere anime Toradora looks set to receive some hitherto unseen chibi renditions of Taiga and company, in much the same style as Shana-tan.
Currently, it seems only DVD special images are promised, but we might as well speculate about the possbility of a Taiga-tan anime short, given that the DVDs will likely be packed with extras.

Idol Prostitution Rife, says Fallen Idol Minako Komukai
Sacked gravure idol 小向美奈子 / Minako Komukai, pictured, offers shocking revelations about the routine sale of idols for sex, saying in an interview that it is a routine side business for countless idols.
The agency claims Ms Komukai was dropped over her various health problems, saying it could no longer support her career in the circumstances; a month later, she broke her silence over the matter with an interview given to Shuukan Post, and the revelations are as unsurprising as they are scandalous.
Much of the idol business operates alongside a sideline business of a “date club” organisation, she says. There, according to their fame, comeliness and similar, idols are ranked from A to D, and to each a corresponding price is attached, in order to partake of that particular idol-level.
We do not hear what the prices were, though we might suspect them to be a far cry from the immature opposite end of the spectrum.
“I saw so many gravure idols doing that, it was like a second job to them; like it was expected of us.” She is emphatic that she did not engage in such: “I swear to God, I never did anything like that.”
Although we can certainly ascribe to her motives of revenge against the trade which prematurely discarded her, as it eventually does to all its participants, her allegations are perfectly credible: we hear of similar recent scandals, for example in 2005 a group of idols sued their agency for damages over being forced into prostitution, and the courts ruled in their favour and ordered damages paid.
Another case in 2007 is spoken of, where the director of an agency was actually arrested for violating laws against prostitution.
Not all idols are so docile, however. One offers this in her confession:
“There was someone who wanted to buy my body. Why must I sell myself whilst working like that? If I have to do that, I’d sooner quit” – such was her statement on retiring from the profession.

As we have touched upon before, the image trades of idol, AV star, pop star, seiyuu, actress, etc., seem all to operate in a continuous complex of sexual commerce, with the proclivities of the buying audience (some pay for purity and virginity, or at least the appearance of such), along with the amount of money on offer from a given proposition, the chief determinants of what it is these professional entertainers get up to.
This is likely a pattern which is in Japan, as elsewhere, many centuries old. We might even recall, if you’ll forgive a sad orientalist cliché, the complex gradations of prostitute/entertainers, from street walker to geisha, which Japan has historically gained so much note for.
Surely it is the same the world over, but the size of the industry in Japan lends it considerable prominence.

The latest hot product on online mall Rakuten, in fact now in the top ranking for male underwear, is the brassiere for men; the seller’s copy is instructive:
